Table tennis championships open at GC Foster
KINGSTON, Jamaica — The three-day annual National Open Table Tennis Championships served off at the GC Foster College Auditorium Friday morning with action in the juvenile sections.
The semi-finals and finals are scheduled for tomorrow’s final day.
At press time, national women’s champion Deidra Lewis reached the semi-final stages of the Girls Uder-15 with a three sets win against Adriana Demetrius. Also joining Lewis in the semi-final stages are Brittany Murray who beat Troyann Anderson. Sheryl Green accounted for Megan McBean and Onito Francis drew a bye.
In the boys’ equivalent, Allessio Tulloch, John-Ross Daley, Derrick Francis, and Ricardo Hall booked their semi-final places.
Lewis, the National Senior Women’s Open champion also reached the Girls’ Under-18 Championship semis. So, too, are Matthew-Ann Dawson, Murray, and Francis.
In the Girls’ Under-9, Lianna Campbell, Lauren Frazer, Lana Smith, and Rhianna Sicher booked places in the semi-final, while in the Boys’ section Matthew Fraser, John Halstead, Rasheed Clarke, and Nathan McClarty also booked their spots. Also reaching the semi-final stages in the Boys’ Under-18 are Rajni Brown, Kweisi Willoughby, Sadiki Hines, and Tyreek Thompson. All doubles matches, Rural men and women Open men and women and mixed doubles were scheduled to be played to the semi-final stages Friday. Meanwhile, the Open Singles for players rated Under 2000 and those rated Under 1750 began this morning at 9:00.
