TIVOLI ENQUIRY: Woman says explosion knocked her unconscious
KINGSTON, Jamaica — A woman today testified in the Tivoli Gardens Enquiry that an explosion knocked her unconscious during the police operation to apprehend area don Christopher ‘Dudus’ Coke.
The woman, Majorie Hinds, said she went outside to look for her child’s father when she was knocked off her feet by the explosion.
She said she woke up in the Kingston Public Hospital where she spent four weeks. Hinds said she received burns to her buttocks and leg, while one of her hands was rendered disabled.
The resident said she later learnt that her child’s father Radcliffe Freeman was dead.
She said, just recently, shrapnel was removed from her neck and side.
A picture of her injured face was shown, but chairman of the enquiry Sir David Simmons asked that it not be shown when she started crying.
She also cried while speaking about her injuries.
Hinds is to continue giving evidence on Tuesday.
