Kabaka takes aim in Well Done video
GENERAL election talk is in the air in Jamaica, and politicians will soon be champing at the bit for votes. One man they don’t impress is singjay Kabaka Pyramid.
The roots artiste’s video for his hard-hitting song Well Done was released last week, and takes aim at politicians he believes have contributed to Jamaica’s economic and social stagnation.
Released in February, the song is produced by Damian ‘Junior Gong’ Marley. The video is directed by Benjamin Lidsky with Ikem Smith as editor/illustrator.
Well Done’s visual has appearances from fellow artistes Bounty Killer and Tony Rebel, journalist Mel Cooke, and Maroon queen Mama G.
“I love the final outcome because it really shows the message of the song. It’s a very political song that we’d like to raise awareness of what’s going on in Jamaica regardless of who’s in power,” Kabaka Pyramid, 29, told Splash.
General election is constitutionally due in late 2016 but Prime Minister Portia Miller Simpson has hinted that polls may be called early.
Kabaka Pyramid is scheduled to start a five-week European tour in early October.
