PM to speak on J’can economy at party’s 77th Annual Conference
KINGSTON, Jamaica – The ruling People’s National Party (PNP) says it has begun preparations for the staging of its 77th Annual Conference scheduled for September 18- 20.
The conference will be divided into two parts – two private sessions and a public session.
PNP Chairman Robert Pickersgill told members of the media gathered at the party’s Old Hope Road headquarters Thursday morning that the party’s leadership had carefully considered the timing of the conference.
He said on Friday, September 18, the party will host a private session where delegates will discuss a number of reports which will be received from different organs and officers of the PNP.
On Saturday, September 19, another private session will be held to “examine and debate the work of the party during the 2014- 2015 political year, the organisational state of the party and election preparations”.
Meanwhile, on Sunday, September 20, party leader and Prime Minister Portia Simpson Miller is expected to address party faithfuls at the National Arena.
Pickersgill said Simpson Miller is expected to focus on the achievements and progress of the Government in reforming the Jamaican economy among other things.
