Manning Cup: JC lead Calabar 1-0 at half-time
ST JAMES, Jamaica — After 45 minutes of play, Jamaica College (JC) have made a fair start to their Manning Cup opening game against Calabar High on Saturday at the Montego Bay Sports Complex in Catherine Hall, leading 1-0 at the break.
Despite pouring rain midway the first half, both teams have so far handled themselves commendably with only one yellow card being issued to JC.
The half was quite evenly contested with both teams attacking and defending at intervals, however, Khori Edmond of the Old Hope Road-based JC broke free on the counter-attack following a splendid pass from his teammate Dawkins to put his team ahead in the 26th minute.
JC, who are without 2014 captain Junior Fleming and midfield maestro Rafique Bryan, seemingly lack the attacking dominance they displayed last season. Defender Alando Brown captains the defending champion with his opposite number Kevin Thompson leading the Red Hills Road-based Calabar team.
