Police charge man with fraud
POLICE officers attached to the Counter Terrorism and Organised Crime Investigations Branch (C-TOC) arrested and charged a man for breaches of the Larceny and Forgery acts yesterday.
He is 48-year-old Howard Hares of Astoria Drive in Red Hills, St Andrew.
Reports are that on Friday, Hares went to a bank where he tendered a cheque for the sum of J$150,000. During the verification procedure the cheque was discovered to be forged.
A report was made at the Fraud Squad of C-TOC which led to the arrest and charge of Williams. He is scheduled to appear before the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate’s Court on Thursday, October 8 where he is to answer to charges of obtaining money by false pretence, conspiracy to defraud, forgery and uttering forged documents.
