Tea Party for Charity
MANDEVILLE, Manchester- The group Friends of the Mandeville Regional Hospital recently hosted its annual fundraising Tea Party.
Proceeds this year, according to vice president of the organisation, Brenda Johnson will go towards purchasing chairs for the surgical and children’s wards.
Johnson, who lived abroad for many years before returning home, said that the voluntary efforts were initiated over 20 years ago by a group of friends who saw the need for various amenities at the health facility.
Mandeville Regional Hospital administrators are looking to improve and expand its services and an additional four-acre lot secured through the Ministry of Transport.
Chief Executive Officer, Alwin Miller told guests at the Tea Party fundraiser that the plans will not be realised overnight and as such the support of partners is valued.
“We appreciate the efforts of the Friends of the Hospital including the Friends of the Friends of the Mandeville Regional hospital,” he said.
Miller added: “Much has been achieved over the years through the generosity of yourselves and many well-thinking Manchesterians and Jamaicans. It is our objective to build a hospital that you can be proud of and will meet the needs of the populace… .”
