St Mary 35-over cricket league bowls off
The St Mary Cricket Association L P Martin Funeral Home/Gas Pro 35-Over Competition bowls off today with eight matches spread across four zones.
In the feature match, defending champions Boscobel play Top Pen at Boscobel Oval starting at 10:00 am.
Boscobel will start favourites, with a number of parish representatives on their team, including national invitee Alwayne Williams, the top batsman in the parish and Domain Wilson. Top Pen, however, have pacer Jermaine Chisholm in their line-up and will not be easily outplayed.
Port Maria, the recent T 20 champs, are expected to get the better of White Hall, what with national invitee Aldane ‘Zum” Thomas, Marlon Byfield and Richard Creary in the team. White Hall will be led by all-rounder Fabian Angus.
The star-studded Jack’s River team is skippered by parish representative Orane Farr and include Sashane Anderson, while Galina will be depending on Romaine Gordon to upset the applecart.
Wilderness will be piloted by Renar Ross, against a Sandals/Beaches line-up at includes skipper Jessi Alexander, Richardo Thompson and talented young batsman Michael Downer.
In the Trinity Land vs Police encounter, Renford Pinnock Jnr is expected to be the player making the difference and set up a win for the lawmen.
The other top teams are Three Hills, piloted by Sanjay Hudson, and Mango Valley with the irrepressible Horace Whitehorne.
The teams have been divided into 4 zones: Zone 1 comprises: Petersfield, Three Hills, Bonny Gate and Mango Valley. Zone 2: Galina, Jack’s River, Sandals/Beaches and Wilderness. Zone 3: Fort George, High Gate, Port Maria, White Hall. Zone 4: Boscobel, Trinity Land, Top Pen and Police.
