Marco Polo, a wet and wild hit
WATA Land’s hilly terrain, located on the border of St Mary and St Ann, was not a deterrent to the more than 6,000 strong who turned out for Marco Polo on Heroes Day.
Dubbed the Wild Wild Wet edition, the event saw patrons streaming into the venue from as early as 1:00 pm.
In addition to the water rides and slides available, guests were treated to music courtesy of a prolific cadre of disc jockeys. Hyperactive Sound, DJ Presley Hype, DJ Ojay, DJ Nicco and the Chromatic crew delivered explosive sets which kept patrons on a musical high into the 10:00 pm cut-off time.
“We wanted to give patrons from this side of the island a taste of the phenomenon known as Marco Polo, hence the reason why we came to St Mary. We have been to Ocho Rios, Negril and Portland for previous out of town staging,” promoter Marvin Lawrence told the Jamaica Observer.
“We continue to re-invent the brand to keep patrons satisfied and also staging it in different parts of the country,” he continued.
Dancehall artiste Devin Di Dakta was the featured act at this edition of Marco Polo. He reeled off a steady diet of his latest hits which kept his audience entertained. Songs including Rri Bang Bi Beng Beng and Gal a Run Mi Down went down well with patrons, especially the females.
Held annually since 2009, the event was being held outside of Kingston for the fourth time.
