Counting down the hottest local and int’l songs
The top ten hottest international and local hits that you just can’t get out of your head or avoid hearing. Sounds a lot like teenAGE Hottraxx to me. We are back, better than ever. So dust off your headphones and get ready to update your playlists as we kick things off with our local list.1. Good Times – Popcaan
Local list:
First this week on the local list is the Unruly Boss, Popcaan with Good Times. Now we all know that Popcaan is a man that don’t deal with shakiness which is why he might be regretting the collaborated version of the song with Rapper Young Thug. During a recent radio interview Popcaan spoke about the collaboration saying “I was the first person to record on that track, I actually recorded a full song… It wasn’t my choice (to work with Young Thug) because Young Thug kinda shaky”.
But why collaborate when the original work is good on its own, don’t fix what’s not broken I say.
2. Which League – Vybz Kartel
In second place this week is Vybz Kartel, with Which League? Leave it to the Worl’ Boss to do what he does best make music that creates controversy. Many persons are of the belief that the single Which League, is a diss track directed at Movado and Alkaline. However a source close to the incarcerated Deejay says that he wasn’t attacking Movado or Alkaline for that matter on the track. I mean you got to give props to Kartel even behind bars he still manages to stir things up.
3. Tifa – Ratings
It’s T I F A in third spot this week with her new single Ratings. The upbeat catchy songs expresses Tifa’s confidence in herself as a woman because she knows that ‘my ratings tall’. The track is set to be featured on her new mixtape entitled Stay Away assembled by ZJ Chrome.
4. I Octane – Prison Life
In the fourth place is I-Octane with Prison Life. The song recounts a story of Octane receiving a letter from a brother in prison and how he warns him to make sure he doesn’t end up there. The conscious thoughts of the track are both ones of upliftment and warning to the youths that make up I Octane’s fan base
5. Spice – Uh Oh
Rounding out the top five for the local list this week is Dancehall Diva Spice with her new single Uh Oh. The song which was released only five days ago on the Ellie G Riddim was produced by the Genius Sound. Sounds like another hit to me.
6. My God – Popcaan
7. Special Delivery – Vybz Kartel
8. ATM – Alkaline
9. Everybody – Vybz Kartel
10. Obsession – Konshens1. Hello – Adele
International list:
All hail the queen on her triumphant return (no we don’t mean the one on the throne) but British song bird Adele has definitely regained her title as reigning queen of vocals with her new single Hello. It’s the lead track on her new album 25 to be released next month. Not only does she draw you in with her awesome vocal range, but the music video has done amazingly well, raking in over 77 million views on YouTube only three days after its release. All we can say is that Adele is back to doing her thing and we just can’t get enough.
2. Hotline Bling – Drake
In second place this week is Drake with his new single Hotline Bling, and personally we really don’t know where to start. The song by all counts contains Drake’s usual flow and lyrical genius, the music video on the other hand has us raising questions (Like what was he thinking?) among others. It could be that he wanted to step out of his comfort (and maybe should step back in) or perhaps he wanted to give Meek some ammo for a change, who knows really?
3. Runnin’ (Lose it All) – Naughty Boy ft Beyonce and Arrow Benjamin
In third this week is Runnin’ by Naughty Boy. Madam Flawless herself who lends her voice to the track might want to start running as well. J.Randy Tamberilli is an expose writer who has been releasing unauthorised celebrity biographies for years and now he has his eyes set on queen Bey announcing that he will be releasing an unauthorised biography of her later this year. The book is said to include info such as what really led up to elevator incident of 2015…..sounds like a good read to me.
4. Sorry – Justin Bieber
In the fourth place spot this week is the Biebs with his single Sorry. The song has been doing very well internationally but Justin has caught some shade on two counts as some Beliebers have the impression that the song is about Selena Gomez and him apologizing to her. Also, the video released for the song is being criticised for using a Caribbean-based rhythm and dance moves and yet no dancers of colour (shaaade I mean… tiiint). But for every hate there is praise as many say they like the fact that the dancers were of all shapes and sizes rather than the regular stick figures.
5. Nothing But Trouble – Lil Wayne ft Charlie Puth
Rounding out our top five for the international list this week is Young Money mogul, Lil Wayne and Charlie Puth with Nothing But Trouble. Speaking of trouble, does anyone remember that whole situation between Lil Wayne and Birdman? I wonder what ever happened to that did they make up are still at each other’s throats…? Questions, questions.
6. Jumpman – Drake ft Future
7. What Do You Mean – Justin Bieber
8. Perfect – One Direction
9. Flex – Rich Homie Quan
10. Sia – Alive
