MANCHESTER, Jamaica – Two women, who were jointly charged by the Westmoreland Proactive Investigation Unit under the Proceeds of Crime Act, had their bails extended when they appeared in the Mandeville Resident Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday.

They are 27-year-old Tashimo Hawthorne of Grange Hill, Westmoreland, and 43-year-old Claris Wilson, a businesswoman of Hatfield district in Manchester.

Reports from the Westmoreland Proactive Investigation Unit are that on July 8, a raid was carried out at Hawthorne’s home. A Honda CRV was reportedly seized after a receipt showing that it had been purchased in a cash transaction of J$1.26 million, was found.

On July 15, a car mart owned by Wilson was searched and a receipt book was found with a carbon copy of the document that was found at Hawthorne’s home.

Wilson is to reappear in court on Wednesday, November 18, while Hawthorne will answer to her charges on Wednesday, January 20.

Meanwhile, the police say Hawthorne is facing additional charges under the Law Reform (Fraudulent Transactions) (Special Provisions) Act.

A media release from the Jamaica Constabulary Force’s Corporate Communication’s Unit said, in September of this year, the home, which she allegedly shares with her male companion, was again searched and identity information found. She and her companion, Miguel Noble, were charged for possessing identity information and are scheduled to appear before the Savanna-la-Mar Resident Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, December 9, 2015.
