St George’s College had to come from behind for a 3-1 result against Haile Selassie, while St Jago clipped Kingston College 2-1 in the feature game of the double-header.
Both teams are now on three points, but St George’s currently hold the top spot with a slightly better goal difference.
In the curtain-raiser, Jevoun McKellar (22nd), Alex Marshall (28th) and Gregory Messam Jr’s 67th-minute penalty secured victory for the North Street-based St George’s College, while Akeem Morrison got the consolation for Haile Selassie in the ninth minute.
The feature game was a renewal of rivalry between St Jago and Kingston College, following the former’s 2-0 quarter-final win in the Walker Cup knockout competition. And, the contest lived up to its billing as it required an 87th-minute goal from Hayden Street to separate the teams. Ryan Smart had earlier given St Jago the lead in the 11th minute, with Javain Brown grabbing the equaliser for KC in the 17th minute.
