Plane catches fire on runway at Fort Lauderdale airport
MIAMI, United States (AFP) — An airliner caught fire on a runway at Fort Lauderdale in Florida on Thursday and several people were injured, authorities said.
“Airplane engine fire,” the Broward County Sheriff’s Office said on Twitter, adding: “several injuries.”
Additional reports from CNN are that the Dynamic International Airways Flight 405 caught fire while taxiing for departure.
The pilot of an aircraft travelling behind the plane reported that fuel was leaking from the aircraft before it caught fire, a Federal Aviation Administration official said. Passengers evacuated via slides onto the taxiway.
