Dmedz (No Vote)
The Clarendon singjay wrote this song six years ago. It was released as part of his Empower EP in late 2014.
With general elections pending, he updated No Vote which he stressed does not discourage people from voting.
“They should vote but at the end of the day yuh have to study these people (politicians) an’ don’t vote blindly, because your vote counts,” said Dmedz.
Like many young Jamaicans, Dmedz, who is in his late 20s, has never voted. He will not be going to the voting booth when the next general elections are held.
He does keep in tune with the political beat, pointing out that he is aware of the economic challenges facing Jamaicans.
“I’m very interactive with the streets so I hear the people’s cry. Is not like dem don’t want to vote but dem want to know what dem getting,” he said.
