Homeless people queue up for food from a good samaritan â who did not want to be identified â along Kings Street, downtown Kingston on Christmas Day. The woman said that in 2012 she cooked and didn't have anybody with whom to have dinner. So every year since then, she has cooked and brought food to the homeless, travelling from Portmore, St Catherine to the front of the Supreme Court building.

Feeding the homeless on Christmas Day
The homeless of downtown Kingston were fed by individuals and groups on Christmas Day, as part of an ongoing tradition by kind people to look after them on the day observed globally as the birthday of Christ. Well over 100 homeless and destitute people were offered meals and gifts, with one man, wearing a Santa Claus hat and driving around in his sports utility vehicle — giving out money to many.
In addition, an official of the Kingston Parish Church also invited the homeless to a treat at the church’s premises, at the top of King Street. Here are some of the scenes on Christmas Day:

Romario McKenzie, also know as ‘Batman’ˆ— who has represented and captained Calabar High School’s winning track and field team at the annual Boys and Girls Athletic Championship — hands out food items to the homeless on King Street on Christmas Day.
Another kind soul, John McKenzie (in dark glasses), does his job of feeding the homeless in downtown Kingston.
Jasmin McFarlane (second left) assists the needy. She fed around 50 people and broke down in terms after realising that she did not have enough food for everybody. It was the first time that she had ventured out to feed the homeless. “I have a strong desire to give, I am always happy to give, but it pained my heart that I didn’t have enough to give everybody,” McFarlane said.
