Thirty-two graduate from JOA’s Advanced Sport Management Co
Thirty–two individuals were successful in the Jamaica Olympic Association’s (JOA) Advanced Sport Management Course (ASMC) at the graduation ceremony held at Olympic House recently.
The course, sponsored by Olympic Solidarity, was well supported by 32 representatives from various member associations and federations and all candidates were successful. This was not the first time that the JOA was holding the course which, over the years, has attracted several professionals from within and external to the sport industry.
President Fennell, speaking at the ceremony, congratulated the graduates for demonstrating admirable commitment and application in doing well, particularly in view of the customary vigorous evaluation methodology adopted by the course deliverers. In a wide-ranging and very instructive address, Fennell exhorted the graduates to use the knowledge and experience gained to improve their associations and federations.
The proceedings were chaired by Christopher Samuda, secretary general and chairman of the JOA’s Solidarity Committee and he noted that the staging of the course expresses the JOA’s continuing commitment to building capacity and institutional strengthening and signalled that more initiatives will be taken to enhance the competences of stakeholders.
Yvonne Kong, director of JOA and also the course director, gave a detailed report on the course and, in delivering the vote of thanks, graduate Ricardo Case thanked the JOA and Olympic Solidarity for giving his colleagues and himself an invaluable opportunity for personal growth and development.
Another edition will be held next year and from all indications it will be oversubscribed.
