Nelly a no show, but Shaggy promises several surprises
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Despite the absence of international artiste Nelly, the 2016 staging of the Shaggy and Friends charity concert got off to a smooth start at Jamaica House in Kingston on Saturday.
The show, which is being staged to raise funds for the Bustamante Children’s Hospital, promptly began at 8:00 pm, with Jamaica’s National Anthem.
Shaggy, the concert’s organiser, announced that Nelly and Inner Circle, who had both been on the line-up, would not be performing.
Inner Circle sent an apology via video and attributed their absence to flight problem, but sent their love.
After the video, Shaggy promised surprise performances and went straight into his set.
He delivered hits after hits, such as Church Heathen, Bonafide, Hey Sexy Lady among others, energising the patrons and forcing them out of their seats towards the stage.
