Appleton hunt first in St Elizabeth Major League

SANTA CRUZ, St Elizabeth — Defending champions Appleton Estate FC will go in search of their first win of the St Elizabeth FA/Magnum/Charley’s JB Rum Major League when first-round action resumes with a full slate of matches today.

Appleton all but cruised to last season’s title, but are yet to record a win after three outings this term.

They have drawn two and lost one, scoring just one goal while conceding two, and will now look to put that record right when they host rivals Black Star FC at the Appleton Estate Sports Complex.

Game time is 3:00 pm.

But while Appleton are currently struggling for form, their opponents have so far been in impressive form, winning all three games (with six goals for and two against) to occupy top spot on maximum nine points.

Three points back in second are the promoted Vineyard FC, who were scheduled to play Holland PYC yesterday.

Meanwhile, in the other mid-week fixtures, Super Action will meet Tafari Lions at Holland, Real Treasure Beach FC host Haughton United at Treasure Beach Sports Park, while St Bess FC and Newell United are set to do battle at the Lacovia Community Centre.
