When Stars Align
The Shaggy Make A Difference Foundation returned with a bang for the fifth staging of the Shaggy and Friends benefit concert held on the lawns of Jamaica House. The organisation, founded by Grammy-winning recording artiste Shaggy, hosted the first major event of the new year. There were performances from a line-up of local and international acts, including Ashanti, Beenie Man, Sean Kingston, En Vogue, among others.
The Bustamante Hospital for Children CEO Dr Anthony Wood was excited to share that, among other donations, the proceeds from the Shaggy and Friends concert will fund the first ever catheterization laboratory, which is “an examination room in a hospital or clinic with diagnostic imaging equipment used to visualise the arteries and chambers of the heart and treat any stenosis or abnormality found. It will be the only one of its kind in the government sector, although there’s a cath lab at the University Hospital of the West Indies. Having the cath lab at the Bustamante Hospital for Children is a significant investment that will, without a doubt, improve the quality of life of our children.”
