UPDATE: Missing foreign national in police custody
KINGSTON, Jamaica – Detectives attached to the Narcotics Division arrested and charged 53-year-old Andrew Allwood, who was previously reported missing, with breaches of the Dangerous Drug Act on Wednesday, December 16.Read: Man visiting from England reported missing
Reports are that about 5:15 pm on December 16, Allwood, who is of a London, England address, was apprehended by lawmen when he arrived at the Sangster International Airport attempting to depart the island with the narcotic substance.
A news release from the Jamaica Constabulary Force’s Corporate Communications Unit said during routine security checks, an officer searched two of his bags and observed that the handles felt “unusual”. They were reportedly opened and found to contain 1.5 pounds of cocaine.
Allwood was subsequently arrested and charged with possession of cocaine, dealing in cocaine and attempting to export cocaine.
