Western athletes to kick-start season at First Chance meet
BOGUE, St James — High school athletes in western Jamaica who still need to make the qualifying standards for the ISSA National High School Boys’ and Girls’ Championships in March will get a chance at today’s County of Cornwall Athletics Association’s First Chance Meet at Herbert Morrison Technical, set to start at 9:00 am.
There will be six events — three track and three in all classes plus two 4x400m relay Open races.
Athletes will get the chance to compete in the 100m, 400m and 800m in all classes for boys and girls, while competition in the field events include the long and high jumps as well as the shot put.
Schools taking part will be allowed to enter a maximum of six athletes in each event.
The ISSA Boys’ and Girls’ Champs will be held at the national stadium in mid-March.
