Cavalier coach confident ahead of clash with Humble Lion
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Toni Cowan, the Cavalier SC assistant coach, is confident her team can produce the goods in their Red Stripe Premier League clash away to fourth-placed Humble Lion FC at Effortville in Clarendon.
Cavalier are ninth in the 12-team points standing with 21 points from 19 matches, while Humble Lion, seeking a place in the semi-finals for a second straight year, have 29 points.
Cowan said the team has been boosted after discovering a scoring touch of late, which includes last weekend’s 3-0 beating of Boys’ Town FC.
“We’re pretty confident going into this one because we’ve started to score goals. We’ve acquired some new strikers and putting the ball into the back of the net has been our major problem. In my estimation, it has been one of the only problems we’ve had this season because we’ve been playing good football,” she said during an interview at Thursday’s RSPL press conference at the beer company’s Spanish Town Road base.
Cowan said some favourable results on recent visits to Effortville is also cause for optimism.
“Generally, when we go down to Effortville we produce a very good game, so we are hoping to carry that down there again,” she said.
