Boys Club edge Lucea in Super League
MONTEGO BAY, St James — Montego Bay Boys and Girls Club ended the first round of the Jamaica Football Federation Charley’s JB Rum Western Confederation Super League with back-to-back wins after edging promoted Lucea FC 1-0 in their Zone One game at the UDC Field in Montego Bay on Saturday.
Glenroy Williams scored his first goal of the season in the 15th minute as Boys Club improved to nine points tied with three other clubs — Petersfield FC, Granville FC and Salt Marsh United.
They achieved the win despite playing 86 minutes with 10 players after striker Roshane Reid was sent off in the fourth minute for striking an opponent moments after he was warned for the same thing by the referee.
Boys Club were earlier in the week awarded points from their unplayed game against Salt Marsh United on Sunday after they objected to playing the game with only one of the two uniformed policemen in attendance.
On Saturday, both teams missed good scoring chances as Lucea FC failed to make use of the one man advantage they had for almost all of the game.
The first round ends tomorrow with Petersfield hosting Salt Marsh United and Sandals Whitehouse taking on Wadadah FC at Whitehouse.
