Arnett clip MoBay United to top RSPL
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Champions Arnett Gardens FC clipped Montego Bay United 2-1 in Sunday’s Red Stripe Premier League (RSPL) match at Anthony Spaulding Sports Complex to climb into first place in the 12-team points table.
Arnett Gardens move to 38 points from 20 games after goals from Vishinul Harris (17th minute) and Dicoy Williams (24th) gave them the win. It was their fifth victory on the trot.
The visitors Montego Bay, who scored through Ronaldo Rodney’s strike in minute 46, slipped to second place on 37 points. Striker Dino Williams missed the chance to give MoBay a share of the points when Arnett’s goalkeeper Damian Hyatt saved his penalty kick very late in the encounter. It was redemption for Hyatt who was at fault for Rodney’s goal.Sunday’s RSPL results (home team named first)Monday’s RSPL game
The match scheduled for Edward Seaga Sports Complex between hosts Tivoli Gardens FC and Rivoli United was postponed. Tivoli team manager Brian Rose said the issue was caused by an overflow of sewage from a nearby housing scheme that went onto the playing surface.
