Global releases maiden tag in impressive fashion
TheFitzroy Glispie-conditioned Global made her intention well-known for the upcoming three-year-old Classic campaign with a commanding victory in a maiden condition race over 1,300 metres at Caymanas Park last Saturday.
With in-form claiming apprentice Bebeto Harvey in the saddle, Global slammed her 14 rivals, winning by an ever-increasing 10 lengths over Golden Glory under Aaron Chatrie, Wartime with O’Brien White, and Francia’s Pride, the mount of Wesley Henry. The winning time was a decent 1:21.1 minutes behind splits of 23.3, 47.3 and 1:13.0 minutes.
Global (Film Director – Emmveepee) showed good speed at the start of the race but was held into second position by a neck behindClassy Aviator with Shamaree Muir at the half mile before taking control of the race approaching the final bend.
With just one crack with the whip from Harvey to remind Global that the race, was not yet over, the bay filly accelerated and opened her winning account in the native-bred three-year-olds and upward event for fillies only.
Harvey said that he was merely a passenger as he had nothing more to do.
“She ( Global) is a very nice horse. The race was pretty much easy as it showed at the end. She will surely develop into a nice racehorse and one to look for in the future,” Harvey told The Complete Racing Guide.
For sure, the opposition that Global faced was not the best of the best of the three-year-old crop, but it was a victory which was indicative of a talented horse with much more scope for improvement. Only time will tell, but racing fans should keep their eyes firmly fixed and follow the progress of Global.
