Du’rite for Rebel Salute
EMERGING reggae singer Du’rite is poised to make his local debut at Rebel Salute on Friday night.
The Jamaican-born, Florida-based artiste is expected to unveil his three latest singles: Bloody City, Violence and Do You Really Care.
“Music is my life and I plan to take it to an international level,” Du’rite told the Jamaica Observer.
Du’rite was invited to perform on the Florida launch of Rebel Salute and was so impressive he secured a place on the show.
The artiste, who hails from Spanish Town, is also involved in establishing a peace initiative for his community.
“My peace initiative is to do something to motivate the community. It will be a skills competition for whatever qualification you have, to just bring it out. Every youth will want to get involved as training aboard will be provided,” he said.
Du’rite (given name Dwight Officer) worked at the Hilton Kingston as a chef before migrating in 2006.
He also has gigs lined up for Africa and Europe later this year.
