Catherine Hall edge Heights FC in St James Senior League
MONTEGO BAY, St James — Former champions Catherine Hall FC made a winning start to the St James Football Association’s Sandals/ATL Senior League after edging Heights FC 1-0 in a Zone Two game played at the UDC field on Tuesday.
Donovan Flowers scored the winner in the 19th minute for Catherine Hall, who were fifth in the league table last year, and just missed a spot into the semi-finals after being demoted from the Western Confederation Super League.
Meanwhile, Heights FC continue to struggle against quality teams with their only win in four games this season coming in the Captain’s Bakery and Grill Knockout against Division one team Bogue FC.
They have been fortunate however, benefitting from two boardroom decisions to qualify for the semi-finals of the Knock-out after Fire House SC and Reggae Youths, who both beat them, being kicked out of the competition for using ineligible players.
Three further Senior League games will be played tomorrow. Seba FC and Marl Road are to meet at the UDC field, while Norwood and Lilliput Rovers will face-off at Albion, and Faulkland FC and Violet Kickers are down to clash at Jarrett Park.
