Menzies: Local female footballers improving
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Jamaica women’s football technical advisor Hue Menzies says he has seen an overall improvement in the standard of play from local female footballers.
Menzies, who is based in the United States, and Under-17 women’s assistant coach Xavier Gilbert, are supervising training and recruitment sessions at Stadium East field ahead of the CONCACAF Under-17 Championship set for Grenada from March 3 to 13.
“We want to see where the local-based players are. Obviously they just finished their league, so we want to see where they are, and to identify players to put into the current roster. Obviously, players still have to be better technically, but we do feel we see improvements each time we come,” he told OBSERVER ONLINE at Stadium East on Saturday.
The Young Reggae Girlz are scheduled to have their third and final session Sunday morning at the same venue.
