Continue to fulfill your mandate of Trade Facilitation, Border Protection, and Revenue Optimization
As custom officials and agencies across the globe observe this year’s International Customs Day, I am pleased that the Jamaica Customs Agency (JCA) is again spearheading this annual week of activities to focus attention on the role you play in nation building.
Your introduction of a world-class technological enterprise system for customs operations indicates that you are charting a path to progress through technology and this aptly embodies the theme of this year’s international observance, “Digital Customs – Progressive Engagement.”
The strides you have made by seizing the opportunities provided by the modern technology, to implement a paperless operation is noteworthy, and one that speaks clearly to your commitment to boost operational efficiency to advance Jamaica on the path to achieve Vision 2030. Indeed, these new measures will assist Jamaica’s global competitiveness in facilitating more efficient trade with other nations.
I am encouraged by your plans to further improve business processes in other areas of service delivery, as you fulfill your mandate of trade facilitation, border protection, and revenue optimization.
In your efforts to improve trade facilitation and protect our nation’s borders, continue to be vigilant, bold, fear-less and peer-less.
I wish you every success with the celebratory activities as you observe International Customs Day and I urge you to continue the progress you are making in Jamaica’s trade facilitation.
