Message from the Jamaica Manufacturers’ Association (JMA)
It gives the Jamaica Manufacturers’ Association (JMA) immense pleasure to extend a most worthy commendation to the Jamaica Customs Agency (JCA),for their unwavering commitment, particularly as it relates to their mandate of trade facilitation. This represents a service of which we have been a tremendous benefactor. We at the JMA are proud of our association with the Agency, especially as they celebrate International Customs Day.
Increases in the volume and complexity of trade in recent years, have significantly changed the operating environment for the international trading community. Such an environment necessitates a reengineering of the trade procedures and calls for custom agencies to further streamline their operations and improve inefficiencies. This year’s theme, “Digital Customs-Progressive Engagement” is indicative of a move in the right direction, towards modern and more effective procedures.
The implementation of the Automated System for Customs Data (ASYCUDA) world pilot export model by the JCA must be lauded. This has propelled the Agency to positively impact clearance processes and timelines; of vital importance to trade promotion.
The JMA attaches great significance to maintaining and further strengthening our ties. As the JCA continues its thrust to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of its administration, we continue to support the Agency in all its endeavours during its celebration and beyond.
