JC, STETHS receive schoolboy football awards
KINGSTON, Jamaica – After months of exciting competition, champions Jamaica College and St Elizabeth Technical High school (STETHS) received their respective share of the spoils at the ISSA/Flow Schoolboy Football presentation ceremony at Terra Nova Hotel on
Wednesday.
Jamaica College garnered their overall 27th lien on the prestigious Manning Cup trophy and also took home the All-island Olivier Shield.
The Old Hope Road-based team was also named the most defensive team with just seven goals against.
Beaten finalist St George’s College copped the most attacking team award for their 51 goals, and their prolific striker Alex Marshall took home the individual award the most goals scored throughout the competition, which stands at 26.
Marshall also walked away with the Golden Boot award after netting 16 goals in the second round and later returned to accept the Most Valuable Player (MVP) award.
Meanwhile, the Santa Cruz-based STETHS copped six awards along with the coveted DaCosta Cup and Ben Francis Knockout titles, with their instrumental point man Michael Kerr taking the individual awards for that region.
Kerr, who ended the season with an astounding 32 goals, took home the rural awards for the most goals throughout the competition; the Golden Boot for his 20 goals scored in the second round; and the Most Valuable Player (MVP) award.
Sherdon Cowan
