YMCA, Racketeers secure wins in Open Badminton Club League
KINGSTON, Jamaica – Young Men’s Christian Academy (YMCA) Challengers and Racketeers both secured wins in the Open Badminton Club League at the Constant Spring Golf Club Racquet Complex on Tuesday.
YMCA Challengers defeated Racketeers 5-0 in the A division, while Racketeers defeated Tastee 5-0 in the D division.
The matches were determined by the best of five games, which consisted of two Men’s Doubles, One Ladies Doubles and two Mixed Doubles.
In the A Division, Oshane Morgan and Kamar Valentine (YMCA) defeated Jon- Michael Linton and Kraig Simpson (Racketeers) 21-11 and 21-8 in the Men`s Doubles.
The first Mixed Doubles saw Katherine Wynter and Dennis Coke (YMCA) defeating Christine Leyow-Mayne and Kevin Simpson (Racketeers) 21-11 and 21-11.
In the second Mixed Doubles, Ruth Williams and Anthony McNee (YMCA) defeated Shawnette Davis and Kevin Simpson (Racketeers) 21-12 and 21-14.
In the Ladies Doubles and the second Men`s Doubles, the games were retired in YMCA favour.
In the D Division, the first Men’s Doubles saw Joel Clarke and Stephen Laidlaw (Racketeers) defeating Jahnoy Davis and Mantana Bailey (Tastee) 21-11 and 21-9. Edward Pryce and Stephen Laidlaw (Racketeers) defeated Owen Wellington and Garth Gabert (Tastee) 21-8 and 21-10 in the second Men’s Doubles.
The Ladies Doubles saw Joelle Silvera and Tanielle Davy (Racketeers) defeating Charrone Edwards and Tameka Samuels (Tastee) 21-10 and 21-7.
In the first Mixed Doubles, Joelle Silvera and Joel Clarke (Racketeers) defeated Tameka Samuels and Jahroy Davis (Tastee) 21-15 and 21-9. In the second Mixed Doubles, Tanielle Davy and Edward Pryce (Racketeers) defeated Mantana Bailey and Shawn Barnes (Tastee) 21-5 and 21-8.
