Pastor Son continues the work
GOSPEL artiste Pastor Son is pleased with the response to his latest singles Mi Nah Ansa and Christian God Wud.
“Every young Christian especially can relate to the message in Mi Nah Ansa. It’s about the temptations that the devil may throw at you when you are dserving the Almighty. Temptation that often comes in the form of a sexy woman who will tempt you to fornicate,” he said.
Both songs were officially released in January. Mi Nah Ansa is produced by Chris Dubmaster from Irie Jam Radio in New York while Christian God Wud is co-produced by Calico Music Group and Peela Productions, also out of New York.
Rocking a braided hairstyle complemented by gold earrings and outlandish jewellery, Pastor Son could easily be mistaken for a
hardcore dancehall artiste. However, the entertainer told Splash that his flamboyant image does not define his character.
“A lot of critics are going to bash me but I am aiming to be the (Vybz) Kartel of gospel music. I believe that my type of gospel music will become popular in the music industry as there are lots of souls that needs to be saved,” he said.
Pastor Son, whose given name is Orbin Brown, grew up in St Mary. The son of pastors, he got baptised at eight-years-old but after completing his studies at St Mary High School, he said he became rebellious.
“I formulated a gang in high school named Pimp Gangsters, that was all about the ladies and ganja. I then
looked backed and realised that I had lost myself as a teenager and how far I had drifted from the Lord,” he said.
After migrating to Queens, New York, he embarked on a music career. Among his releases were Block it Out, Come as You Are and Ten Inna Dem Head.
Pastor Son ministers in exotic clubs, lounges and bars. He also tours churches and ministers through his music.
Currently, he is working on his debut EP called The Devil’s Most Wanted scheduled for release in April.
“The message in this album is about building the kingdom of God and putting gospel in mainstream. The devil has lost one of his soldiers being I have fell into the wrong path in my prime. I have since repented and confessed my sins and I have been going in the right path living as a faithful child of God,” he said.
