Parking Lot Pimps on this Sunday
AFTER the success of last November’s inaugural staging of Parking Lot Pimps, the event returns at Oneil’s Place in St Andrew on Sunday. Starting time is scheduled for 2:00 pm.
For Sunday’s staging, Corporate Area car club Skunk Nation has combined forces with the promoters.
“We moved the event there as it was a more convenient location for this type of event,” Edward Bond, Skunk Nation’s co-founder, told
Auto.
With Skunk Nation on board, the concept has been tweaked a bit. However, there will still be the blend of autoshow and party that made the first event a winner.
“We will have a different décor,” Bond said.
Also instead of parking spaces left open on a first-come-first-serve basis, all the vehicles on display will be pre-selected by a team from Skunk Nation.
“We are looking to have a mix of the street-performance rides our club is known for as well as high-end European vehicles,” he said.
Parking Lot Pimps will not only draw from Skunk Nation’s extensive connections within the import modification community, but those from sponsor, Kingston used-car dealer, Carland.
The blending of party and car show continues with what Bond terms their innovation, a Car-abana, a riff on the cabanas normally available at high-end all-inclusive parties.
“This is a specially reserved parking space with a covered tent, its own lighting, and waitress to deliver drinks,” he explained.
Bond aims to turn Parking Lot Pimps into another party series and hold it multiple times for the year. Music will be handled by X-Factor and D-Unit, with an appearance by a special guest DJ.
“We want all patrons to remember to either drink responsibly, or have a designated driver on hand to get you home,” he added.
