AJ Nicholson retained in Turks and Caicos case against former official
KINGSTON, Jamaica – Former Turks and Caicos Health Minister Lillian Boyce, who was implicated in the high profile corruption case on the island, has retained the services of former Jamaica Foreign Affairs Minister A J Nicholson.
The Queens Counsel was sworn in this morning when the trial got underway with the testimony of the first witness.
Boyce is one of several former Government ministers charged along with ex Premier Michael Misick and his associates with conspiracy to accept bribes in public office, conspiracy to defraud and money laundering brought by a special investigative team set up in the Turks and Caicos Islands in 2011.
Nicholson is the latest Jamaican lawyer to join the defence team.
The others are former Public Defender Earl Witter and his junior Kayode Smith, who are representing former Deputy Premier and Minister of Finance Floyd Hall; Former Solicitor General Douglas Leys, and Oliver Smith who are both representing Hall’s wife Lisa.
In addition, attorney Ian Robbins and his senior, London-based Jamaican attorney John Perry are representing former Natural Resources Minister McAllister Hanchell.
