Jamalco host Comfort in Major League quarter-final
HAYES, Clarendon — The quarter-final round of the Clarendon FA/Captain’s Bakery Major League gets underway this weekend with a full slate of matches.
Today, defending champions Jamalco FC host Group One rivals Comfort FC at Wembley, while Moores United travel to New Bowens in Group Two.
Tomorrow, Sporting Central Academy play Original Hazard at the Toll Gate Community Centre, while York Town tackle Kemps Hill FC in Kemps Hill.
Game time is 3:30 pm at all venues.
Having qualified for the quarter-finals with the most impressive record, Jamalco will start as favourites against a Comfort side that placed second to Kemps Hill in Zone A.
The title-holders cruised through the preliminary round with 22 points, having topped Zone B with seven wins and one draw. They scored a chart-topping 20 goals, while conceding one.
Comfort were beaten to first place by Kemps Hill in Zone A due to an inferior goalscoring record. Both sides finished with 15 points and a similar goal difference, but Kemps Hill clinched group honours after scoring four more goals than Comfort. Comfort had the better defensive record, however. They conceded just two goals in eight games, winning four and drawing three.
