ONLINE READERS COMMENT: What about crime Mr Holness?
Dear Editor,
It’s still early days, but (if I am not mistaken) I must tell you that I was totally disappointed in realizing that the new Prime Minister, Mr Andrew Holness, did not mention anything about our serious crime problem during his inauguration speech at King’s House, and also during his key-note address at the swearing in ceremony of the Members of Parliament at Gordon House.
I am feeling quite satisfied with those two brilliant speeches our young Prime Minister has given so far. But Jamaica’s biggest problem, the life-taking one, which is crime and violence, should be at the forefront in his addresses to the nation.
I know that people are already aware that the country is in a fiery-furnace with crime and violence, and will do their utmost to control it. But Holness would have received more encouraging and satisfactory points and applause from the public if he had made die-hearted and convincing comments about the crime monster in his two remarkable speeches.
Saying this, however, doesn’t mean that he did not get enough applause. We all are standing with him and his colleagues. May God give them the strength and all the necessary requirements to successfully manage the economy.
Donald J Mckoy.
