UWI Carnival heads to ‘Ring Road’
TODAY, the Appleton Special UWI Carnival continues with ‘Ring Road’ jam on the grounds of the Mona campus in St Andrew.
Patrons will have the option of jumping with one of the 16 carnival bands for the event series’ marqueè Road March event. A Special mega bar and a 60-foot slide will govern the eight hours of partying. Carnival lovers can also expect to see the Appleton Special ‘truck on di road’ featuring music from Jamaica’s very own soca maestro, Richie Ras, and a host of other musical selections.
Gary Dixon, J Wray and Nephew’s marketing director, said he was pleased to partner with the UWI Guild for the carnival.
“It’s an honour to amplify Jamaica’s first carnival as the feting partner for Appleton Special UWI Integration Carnival Edition, J’Ouvert, Ring Road and the closing Beach Party. Appleton Special UWI Carnival has become one of the most anticipated event series for the year, and we are ensuring that Rum Rules the season with Appleton Special party-starter rum mixes. As always, Rum Rules Responsibly and so we encourage patrons to practise responsible drinking to better enhance their party experience,” he said.
The series, which began on Thursday, ends at the drink-inclusive Appleton Special Carnival Beach Party at Sugarman’s Beach in Portmore, St Catherine, on Sunday.
