Fun in the Son set for July 16
THIS year’s staging of Best Dressed Fun in the Son, the Caribbean’s premier gospel event, is scheduled for the National Heroes Park in Kingston, on Saturday, July 16.
The event will be free to the public and will feature top local gospel acts as well as an international gospel artiste.
Speaking at the first meeting of the Best Dressed Fun in the Son Planning Committee, held recently at the head offices of the Jamaica Broilers Group, McCook’s Pen, St. Catherine, Vice-President for Human Resource & Public Relations at Jamaica Broilers Group Dr. Claudette Cooke said the event gives Jamaica Broilers and its Best Dressed Chicken brand an opportunity every two years to “lift up what is right with our nation”.
“If there is ever a time that our country needs healing, it is now. There are many Jamaicans who are frustrated and angry and this event gives us an opportunity to point them to a ‘Higher Source’ from which they can get answers,” she said.
Dr Cooke said the Best Dressed Fun in the Son gospel festival and extravaganza provides an environment where families and young people can hang out; parents can release their children into the care of the organisers and volunteers and return to their homes better than when they attended the event.
Several international acts have performed on Fun in the Son including American gospel artistes Hezekiah Walker, Kirk Franklin, and duo Mary Mary.
