Youth weigh in on women’s rights
Teams from the University of the West Indies and four high schools made their voices heard at the Women’s Leadership Initiative (WLI) International Women’s Day Conference at the Jamaica Pegasus on Monday, March 7, 2016.
The conference, titled “Pledge for Parity: Speak it into Being”, showcased speakers and panelists on related issues. The student teams from the UWI Vice Chancellor’s Ambassador Group UWI Students Today Amumni Tomorrow (UWI STAT), St. George’s College, Ardenne High School, Hillel Academy and St. Andrew High School for Girls, impressed conference attendees with their probing questions and comments following the various presentations, and in their own panel “Respect Earned, Respect Given”, which explored the perceived diminishing respect between young men and women and how this could be rectified.
