Semojrah Naki pushes track
Toronto-based sing-jay Semojrah Naki is in Jamaica promoting his latest single, Rastaman She Want. He has been making the radio rounds and plans to shoot a video for the song.
“I have been getting great feedback to the song so far during radio interviews and in the streets, because they love the humour and message. I believe it could be a hit,” he said.
Born in St Catherine, Semojrah Naki spent some of his youth in Clarendon before moving to Kingston where he attended Kingston College. It was there that his love for music grew.
After converting to Rastafari, he read ancient texts and changed his name to Semojrah Naki, which means ‘warrior’.
He was a member of Anunaki Warriors, a group which had its own sound system, Anunaki Supreme, in Greater Portmore.
Eight years ago, he migrated to Canada.
Semojrah Naki performs this evening at Oneil’s Place.
