WINNERS’ COMMENTS… WINNERS’ COMMENTS…
Blue Dixie, ridden by Aaron Chartie and trained by Gary Subratie, won the first race over 1,200 metres. After the race Chatrie said: “From we turned for home with a clear running path, the race was over as Blue Dixie is a strong finisher.”
Apprentice Javaniel Patterson, who won aboard Megahertz in the second race over 1,400 metres, said: “We could have won by more than the seven lengths as we got a brief stop approaching the half-mile and had to regain our momentum and strike again up the lane.”
Sequoyah, under apprentice Jerome Innis, won the fifth race over 1,600 metres. Innis said: “The plan coming into this race was to get a good break, keep him close to the pace and ride him for the last two furlongs. That proved good for us and we came home pretty easy in the end.”
Flying Miracle, trained by Nevie Graham and ridden by apprentice Linton Steadman, won the seventh race over 1,300 metres. Steadman said: “ Flying Miracle is a much better horse than $250,000-$200,000 claimers. So the race was an easy one for me as I did not rush him at the start, just stayed with the pace and asked him to run up the lane, and he swept by all to win easily.”
Brave Prospect got the job done for owner O’Shaun Connection, trainer Neive Graham and apprentice Linton Steadman in the eighth race race.
Graham said: “It is a regular thing nowadays to win a double. Brave Prospect’s performance was very good as he has had some problems and we took our time with him to get him sound and ready and he came and won, so it was good. I am pleased with the victory.”
