Pink Boss rules at Magnum contest
COME Saturday, the top 12 contestants (six from castles Blue and Red, respectively) will do battle in the weekly Magnum Kings and Queens of Dancehall held at the D’Entrance on Constant Spring Road in St Andrew.
Last week’s competition saw a well-received set from Pink Boss, who stole the show with a catchy single Bubble. As usual, he came decked out in his pink clothing with hair to match.
Zigma, who performed last with his song entitledWhat Have I Done, received a resounding ‘boo’ from the audience for his attempt at embarrassing his fellow contestant Pink Boss for wearing the colour pink. Resident judge Skatta Burrell encouraged the audience to embrace each contestant and disagreed with the negative reaction to Zigma. He reminded the audience that ‘Magnum Kings and Queens’ is a competition.
Earlier in last Saturday’s show, contestants with the lowest votes from the public were engaged in a duel. One Pong lost his battle against Frass Groovas, while Quench Aid was defeated by I-Rae.
Lyrical clashes will continue with Castle Red’s females Tequila and Shaniel Muir, and males Triple R and Shemdon. Castle Blue’s bottom four will also do battle to stay in the competition.
Guest performer Vershon captivated the Magnum crowd with his delivery of popular singles Inna Real Life, Peanut Porridge, Boom and Ruff Up the World.
Started in 2007, Magnum Kings and Queens of Dancehall attracts a hardcore dancehall fan base.
