Miss Oates is a confident highly driven graduate with strong analytical skills and a genuine love for people. Resourceful and proactive, she combines effective communication and interpersonal skills to deliver a satisfactory outcome, whilst working alone or as a team player.
Managing a small tour company in St. Lucia, has formed the framework for what she currently does in her professional life.
She currently manages the Public Relations and Communication portfolios of the College of Agriculture Science and Education. The challenges of this position have taught her dynamism, tenacity and resourcefulness. Her passion for excellence and a contagious enthusiasm has helped her to succeed in all positions she has held. She has also lectured at the College of Agriculture Science and Education for approximately 16 years.
Being a volunteer, she is intimately involved in activities in her community. She is a member of the Cool Vibes Toastmasters Club and the Portland Horticultural Club. When her parish becomes host to Haitian refugees, she provides translation services for the Ministry of National Security and the Ministry of Health.
She holds a Masters Degree from the University of Birmingham, England; A Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of the West Indies, Cave Hill/Nassau Campus; and an Associate of Science Degree from the Sir Arthur Lewis Community College in St. Lucia. She is a trained teacher, certified by the College of Agriculture Science and Education in Portland.
Having a passion for the development of Jamaica, she is highly determined and poised, to make a positive contribution towards nation building.
