PENNSYLVANIA, United States — The Jamaican men’s 4×100 metres team snapped a four-year winless run after upsetting the field to win the event in the USA vs The World series at the 122nd Penn Relays Carnival yesterday at Franklin Field.

The team of Jermaine Hamilton, Julian Forte, Rasheed Dwyer and Oshane Bailey clocked 38.70 seconds to record Jamaica’s only win in the six-race series.

It was the first win by the Jamaican men sprint relay team since 2011 and fourth overall in the 16-year history of the competition.

The men’s team beat the USA Blue team 39.02 seconds with St Kitts third in 39.49 seconds.

A USA Red team of Mike Rogers, Justin Gatlin, Tyson Gay and Isaiah Young did not finish as the baton fell on the last exchange.

The Jamaican women’s team of Gayon Evans, Elaine Thompson, Kerron Stewart and Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce clocked 42.90 seconds for second behind the USA Red (42.61 seconds) with Trinidad and Tobago third in 43.43 seconds.

The women’s 4x200m team ran 1 minute 31.34 seconds for second behind the USA (1:31.17) with Nigeria third in 1:34.01.

The men’s team failed to finish after lead-off runner Jason Livermore pulled up with a leg injury.

The women’s 4x400m team of Christine Day, Tiffany James, Verone Chambers and Stephenie McPherson was second in 3:29.00 minutes behind the USA 3:26.83 minutes while the men’s team finished sixth.
