Marco Polo heads to Florida
POPULAR water party series, Marco Polo will make its overseas debut at Lockhart Stadium in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, on Sunday, June 5.
Promoted by Lawless Events, the event has been named the Caribbean’s largest water party.
Lawrence, CEO of Lawless Events explained the decision to stage the party in Fort Lauderdale.
“We have been coming under pressure from Jamaicans living in Florida, and pretty much the brand has grown. Hence, we decided to make Florida our first stop outside of Jamaica,” Lawrence told the Jamaica Observer.
“We have had Marco Polo in St Ann, Negril and in Portland. The event has evolved tremendously over the years and we have to thank our sponsors, our many supporters and of course the media, who have always been there for us,” he continued.
Lawrence also said there are plans to stage events in Trinidad and Tobago, as well as in Connecticut, USA, next year.
Dubbed the All Red Bikini Cooler Edition, the June 5 staging will be hosted by popular Florida-based vlogger Prince Marni (aka Susan). The musical delights will be provided courtesy of sound system Coppershot Disco, Miami’s Dutty Dex, DJ Sinistar and Eccentrix Sound and Jamaica’s Laing D and Blink D Link.
Marco Polo was first held in 2009 at the LIME Golf Academy in New Kingston. It is held twice annually in Jamaica. Its last staging was in December 2015 at Bay Beach in Ocho Rios, St Ann.
