Message from the Leader of the Opposition
It is indeed a pleasure for me to join in the extending heartiest congratulations to the students, staff, management and the Old Boys Association of Munro College and the Munro & Dickenson Trust as you celebrate the significant milestone of the 160th anniversary of this noble institution.
Over these 160 years Munro College has distinguished itself as a centre for excellence in secondary education in Jamaica. Equipped with a solid education and the positive character building experience gained at Munro, your alumni have gone on to provide distinguished service in many fields of endeavour in Jamaica and around the world.
Munro College has a proud history and a fine track record of excellence in education, co-curricular activities and character enhancement for the young men who pass through the corridors of that institution.
I share the goal of the visionary, dedicated and hard working men and women who have been at the helm of Munro College over the years. Like them, I remain committed to ensuring that Jamaica produces citizens with the requisite education and skills to contribute meaningfully to their successful advance in life. At the same time, they must be equipped to contribute meaningfully to the development of their communities, country and the interconnected world in which they live.
In this quest, Munro College continues to acquit itself well. I extend my best wishes that the school will continue to grow and expand its training for bright, responsible and civic-minded young men even as it continues to raise the standard of education and educational output in Jamaica.
Your outstanding results in education continue to give true meaning to your motto that; “A City Set Up a Hill Cannot Be Hid.” May the bright light of your success continue to illuminate the path and enrich the lives of many more young Jamaicans. Happy anniversary!
