KSAFA Major League semis on tomorrow
Molynes United FC continued their undefeated run in the Charley’s JB Rum/KSAFA Major League by sneaking past Whitfield Town FC 1-0 in the feature game of a quarter-final double-header to reach the semi-final of the competition at Constant Spring, on Monday night.
In the opening game, Duhaney Park FC outbattled Olympic Gardens FC 2-1 to book their semi-final spot in the clash of the former Red Stripe Premier League campaigners.
Both games were contested with great vigour but the sweetest victory for the semi-finalists was undoubtedly that of Duhaney Park FC.
While Molynes United played pungent football throughout to remain unbeaten in the campaign, Duhaney Park had to pick themselves up off the floor of the table with five points midway the season and changed their coach with two games remaining to reach this stage, by winning their final game in the preliminaries.
They also had to recover from a 19th-minute goal from Okeem Forth reaching the semi-final through goals from Jermaine Myers in the 41st, and Chadrick Prawl in the 74th minute.
Molynes United, on the other hand, played their worst game of the season, but advanced on a 16th-minute goal from their chief marksman, Patrick Sheklude and two splendid saves, one in each half, from goalkeeper Crique Williams.
In the earlier quarter-final matches, JDF FC defeated Constant Spring FC 3-0 with goals from Andre Redwood in the 11th, Henry Clarke in the 18th, and Johwoye Singh in the 49th minutes, while Central Kingston FC edged Red Hills United FC 1-0 to advance on a 90th+3 extratime strike from Romario Davey.
Both semi-finals will be played in a double-header at the Barbican playing field tomorrow, with JDF FC and Duhaney Park FC opening the programme at 2:00 pm, before Molynes United FC and Central Kingston FC meet in the feature match at 4:00 pm.
