Canadian national charged for breaches of the dangerous drug act
KINGSTON, Jamaica – A Canadian woman was taken into custody by police officers attached to the Sangster International Airport for breaches of the Dangerous Drug Act on Sunday, last.
She has been identified as 40-year-old Kendra Priestley of Ontario, Canada.
Reports are that about 5:45 pm, police officers, with the assistance of narcotic dogs, were conducting checks at the airport when they were alerted to a suitcase which was listed for transportation to Canada.
The suitcase was searched and found to contain cocaine amounting to six pounds. The drug has an estimated street value of JMD 2.5 million.
Priestley is set to appear before the Montego Bay Resident Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday, May 17.
