Warrior King pens ode to Gambia head
Warrior King dedicates his latest song, Yahya Jammeh, to the president of The Gambia. He was inspired to write it after visiting the West African country last year.
Then, he was a guest of Lucky Dube’s daughter, Nkulee, for the 20th anniversary of the Revolution Celebration at which she performed.
“I was very impressed with how the people love him and how he was very tolerant with Christians and Muslims alike. It was my first time in Africa and it was like I am in Jamaica,” said Warrior King, who is booked for the Revolution Celebration in July.
Yahya Jammeh took control of Gambia in 1994 through a military coup. He has been president since 1996.
The singer is promoting his album The Rootz Warrior, which was released in February.
“For the summer, I’ll be in Canada, the US and South America. Wi always touring, building the fan base. I see myself as an ambassador for the culture of Jamaica,” said Warrior King.
